A few years ago, I started a Four Seasons of Fairies series of illustrations. I completed Summer and Winter and stopped, always intending to finish the group. I have recently designed and executed the watercolor and colored pencil paintings for the Spring and Fall Fairies. Here are all four seasons together.
Just as Season 5 of Downton Abbey comes to an end, Dover Publications has come out with my new English Country Paper Doll in the Downton Abbey Style!
This collection features 2 dolls and 30 sumptuously detailed outfits from the 1910 to 20's era. My favorite costume period. I had so much fun creating this opulent wardrobe of original, historically accurate designs which includes costumes for travel, entertaining, glamorous evenings out and 2 wedding gowns!
As 2014 comes to a close, I am thinking of a few accomplishments that are the icing on the cake. The E.R.MillerDesigns cake, that is. While I have been very busy doing paper dolls and books and product design assignments this year, I have put a lot of energy into developing my creative life as a painter. I have a penchant for large floral pieces such as the iris, peony and tulip paintings I have made recently.
I entered my painting, "White Peonies" in the Artist's Magazine's 31st Annual Art Competition and was named a finalist! I got a mention in the December issue. I am happy to say I was one of 74 finalists out of 937 entries in the Still Life Interior category.
My work year ended on a very happy note when a friend bought my painting, "Down the Road" after seeing it as my cover photo on my Facebook page!
It has been a year of hard work and creative challenges and it has been rewarding. Looking forward to the next year which I hope will be filled with an even more expansive creative life. Here's wishing everyone a very Happy New Year!
My new coloring book for Dover Publications is out! With the popularity of television shows like Cake Boss, there is a huge fascination with beautifully decorated desserts. In this collection, I've illustrated 30 original, scrumptuous cake, cupcake, cookie and candy designs. In short, I drew every kind of decorative dessert I could think of!
This book is part of Dover's Creative Haven series of coloring books designed for the experienced colorist.
Last Thursday,I was so happy see the Fed-ex truck pull up out front and drop a box on my porch. When I saw the Dover Publications return address I knew it had to be my Kate Middleton book samples! I had worked so hard all last fall on this book of paper dolls of Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge. I finished all the artwork right before Thanksgiving of 2013. The book includes Kate, Will, and Baby George, and over 20 of Kate's gorgeous fashions. I had so much fun illustrating this collection. When I get my samples from the publisher, it's the first time I see the whole book in print, and it's very exciting. So here she is with her stunning wardrobe! Complete with all the names of the designers and the places she wore each outfit.
